Contracts and Billing
Let’s make billing easy.
To help you navigate your invoices, we’ve put together a few ‘how-to’ steps to quickly identify billing line items.
-
Fixed-fee customers are billed halfway thorugh the month. Pay-per-turn customers are billed at the end of the month. Activity-based billing is billed once the service has been completed.
-
Location billing is the billing of containers based on the quantity installed as opposed to the activity. The billing should be consistent month to month unless there is a change in the pricing or container quantity.
-
Activity billing will display the service date, while period will display the date invoiced.
-
This is a common occurrence for activity billing when services are provided towards the end of each month. Containers are billed as the plant processes the waste and scale tickets are generated; if containers are processed in two different billing cycles this situation will occur. Service charges and containers on dropoff are billed when the billing cycle the route is closed; routes cannot be closed until all manifests on the route are processed. This can cause a delay in certain manifest billings.
-
To help you navigate your invoices, we’ve put together a few ‘how-to’ steps to quickly identify billing line items. An energy charge will be added to each invoice as set forth which will be based on the national average price of diesel fuel as reported on the last Monday in the month prior to invoicing by the Energy Information Administration of the U.S. Department of Energy in its Weekly Retail On-Highway Diesel Prices Index or any other appropriate index tracking energy rates selected by Service Provider.
These surcharges, fees and taxes are a result of various internal and external factors that impact our business and are not represented to be an offset or pass through of our actual costs whether taken collectively or with respect to each category, nor are they representative of surcharges imposed by or remitted to a governmental agency. Rather, they are intended to address a portion of Daniels costs on a companywide basis.
Fuel Surcharge
A fuel surcharge is an enterprise-wide recurring fee that is assessed as a percentage of the invoiced amount (exclusive of taxes and other charges) and is added to each invoice based on the national average price of diesel fuel as reported on the third Monday in the month prior to invoicing by the Energy Information Administration of the U.S. Department of Energy in its Weekly Retail On-Highway Diesel Prices Index.

Environmental & Compliance Surcharge
Our operating locations are faced with extensive oversight and compliance demands along with internal and external initiatives or requirements designed to improve the safety, efficiency, and management of our sites and team members. Our operating locations have and will continue to incur rising business impacts that exceed commonly used inflation indices. These factors make typical rate structures less reflective of the financial demands required to provide service at the highest levels of responsibility and stewardship our customers expect. The Environmental and Compliance Surcharge is assessed as a percentage of the invoiced amount (exclusive of taxes and other charges) to help address companywide impacts associated with oversight and compliance as well as internal and external initiatives designed to anticipate and enhance the safety, efficiency and management of Daniels Operations.
Late Payment Fee
If you fail to pay your invoice on or before its due date, Daniels reserves the right to charge you a late payment fee. Late payment fees are intended to help Daniels recover its costs incurred in managing customers’ unpaid accounts. Late payment fees are up to any amount allowed under applicable law, and are subject to change at any time.
Taxes
Some services provided by Daniels may be subject to state and local taxes unless a proper exemption is provided to Daniels. If applicable, such state, and local taxes will be separately itemized on your invoice, collected by Daniels and submitted to the appropriate taxing authority.
