Frequently Asked Questions

Can I dispose of USP 800 waste in a red bag?

No, many of the items on the Hazardous Drug (HD) list are chemotherapy drugs. In bulk (greater than 3%) these drugs must be disposed of as RCRA waste, but as trace (less than 3%) these can be disposed of in a chemotherapy container. PPE used in the handling of hazardous drugs could have trace amounts of contamination, so the recommendation is that all PPE used in association with HD are disposed of in a certified chemotherapy waste container.
